Albert Linder
Artist statement
As an artist, I choose to create works that portray memorable moments that I have had with family members. Pictures taken from past trips serve as the basis for each work. Each piece then portrays a moment filled with emotion. These works are created with hopes of having the viewer remember past moments with their own family members and friends. Traveling and vacationing throughout the world is a fun and joyful occasion that is filled with everlasting memories. Throughout these challenging times, this pandemic has brought us to a point where we are isolated and unable to freely go and visit family and friends. All I have to offer now are these memories that I have illustrated of happier times in my life.
Artist biography
Albert James L. Linder was born on the island of Guam in 1997. He was a shy and quiet child and often found himself spending time alone at home. While alone, he started to draw and color to keep himself occupied. Growing up, he had developed an interest in other hobbies such as reading, comics, manga, and playing games. These activities have shaped his outlook and understanding of storytelling and the concept of characters within these stories helped his imagination grow. Shortly after entering college, these interests influenced him to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts/Art. His experience as a caregiver and coping with a health condition has not only presented challenges but also inspired him to develop themes and concepts as a visual artist.
After graduating from the University of Guam, he plans to further his education in both graphic design and illustration to help broaden his outlook and learn more as he develops as an artist.
